Today on The Dwelling Place Lounge, Phillip sits down with Pastor Eric Knight to talk honestly about brokenness, sin, and the God who restores His children. Using Psalm 51 and David’s repentance as the anchor, we walk through what brokenness actually is, why God uses it, and how humility—not self‑pity—is the path back to joy in Christ.
We talk through the world’s version of brokenness vs. the biblical one, why believers feel the weight of sin differently, and how the Spirit leads us toward repentance rather than condemnation. Phillip also opens up about his own season of brokenness, mental health, misplaced priorities, and learning to cling to Christ with desperation.
If you’re wrestling with sin, shame, or discouragement today, we pray this episode reminds you that God doesn’t despise a broken and contrite heart—He draws near to it.

When obedience doesn’t lead to numbers, recognition, or influence, it can quietly shake everything you believe about success.
In this episode, we have an honest conversation about faithfulness in places that feel unseen and overlooked. From pastoring in rural Alaska (closer to the Arctic Circle than the nearest Walmart) to wrestling with comparison, authority, and expectations, we explore what it really means to obey God when the results don’t look impressive.
We talk about:
-The tension between obedience and visible “success”
-Why numbers and influence aren’t always signs of faithfulness
-Resisting comparison in a world of celebrity pastors and platforms
-Learning unity and submission under God’s authority
-Staying faithful when growth feels slow or nonexistent
This episode is for anyone who has ever wondered if they’re failing simply because their obedience hasn’t produced what the world calls success.

In this episode we talk about:
✅ What ministry actually is
✅ Why faithfulness matters
✅ How simple obedience builds a life that stands out
✅ Living out your faith in a secular workplace
✅ Why comparison kills calling
✅ Supporting the mission of God even if you’re not “the one preaching”

Why is it so hard to accept grace, even when we believe it’s true? Do you struggle more with believing you're forgiven, or living like you are? Comment down below!
In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, we wrestle with a tension many Christians live in every day: knowing we’re forgiven, yet still carrying guilt and shame. Through Luke 2 and Romans 5, we talk about why grace often feels too free, why we keep trying to pay for what Jesus already finished, and how peace with God can exist even when we don’t feel it. From the shepherds’ invitation to “come and see” to our modern struggle with self-punishment, this conversation explores:
-Why we reject grace even when we believe in it
-How shame distorts our view of God and ourselves
-What it actually means to be justified and at peace with God
-Why joy feels hard when forgiveness feels undeserved
This episode is for anyone who believes in Jesus, but still struggles to believe He really meant them.
